Rivers ALGON Members Attend One-Day Capacity Workshop in Port Harcourt

The Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Sir Chidi Lloyd, on Monday joined his counterparts from across Rivers State at a one-day workshop organized by the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission for members of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON).

The capacity-building session, held at the Justice Mary Odili Judicial Institute in Port Harcourt, marked the first formal engagement between the newly inaugurated local government chairmen and the service commission since their assumption of office on September 1, 2025.

The workshop focused on strengthening collaboration between the commission and local government councils to ensure effective service delivery at the grassroots level. Participants discussed strategies for improving administrative efficiency, promoting accountability, and enhancing staff welfare across the 23 local government areas of the state.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, some chairmen commended the initiative, describing it as a timely step toward aligning the goals of the commission and council leadership for better governance outcomes.

The one-day forum was part of the commission’s renewed effort to build synergy among local government stakeholders and foster a unified vision for sustainable development in Rivers State.
