Rivers Deputy Governor Rallies Task Force to Strengthen Primary Healthcare Delivery

The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, has applauded members of the Rivers State Task Force on Primary Health Care for their steadfast commitment to reducing the state’s disease burden.

Prof. Odu gave the commendation on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, during the Task Force’s third quarterly meeting held at Government House, Port Harcourt.

She urged members to intensify their efforts in order to reclaim the Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge Prize, emphasizing teamwork and dedication as key to surpassing expectations. “We must continue to work as a team and hit the ground running to surprise a lot of people,” she said.

The Deputy Governor, who also chairs the Task Force, expressed joy at meeting members once again and formally welcomed the newly appointed Executive Secretary of the Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board, Dr. Chituru Adiele.

In his remarks, Dr. Adiele noted that the meeting provided an opportunity to review achievements from the previous quarter, outline future plans, and address challenges in primary healthcare delivery. He lauded the exchange of ideas and practical solutions put forward, while appreciating Prof. Odu for her leadership role.

The meeting reinforced the state’s commitment to strengthening its healthcare system and ensuring better service delivery for residents, with stakeholders optimistic about sustaining the gains already recorded in primary healthcare.
