Spotify Names Burna Boy, Rema, Wizkid as Top Afrobeats Artists

Streaming platform Spotify has unveiled its list of the Top Afrobeats Artists of 2025, and the rankings are a testament to Nigeria’s musical dominance. Leading the pack is Burna Boy, whose global appeal and consistent output have earned him the number one spot.

Following closely is Rema, whose international success with hits like Calm Down continues to resonate across continents. Wizkid, a longtime heavyweight in the genre, secured the third position, bolstered by a year of high-profile collaborations and chart-topping singles.

Asake, known for his energetic style and street-inspired sound, landed fourth, while Ayra Starr, recently signed to Roc Nation, rounded out the top five. Her breakout single Hot Body and growing global fan base have solidified her place among Afrobeats’ elite.

Notably absent from the list is Davido, often considered part of the genre’s “Big 3” alongside Burna Boy and Wizkid. His omission has sparked conversation among fans and critics, with many questioning the metrics behind the rankings.

Spotify also released data on the countries consuming Afrobeats the most in 2025. The United States topped the list, followed by Brazil, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Nigeria. The rankings reflect Afrobeats’ continued expansion beyond Africa, cementing its status as a global genre.

As Afrobeats continues to evolve, the 2025 rankings highlight the genre’s dynamic landscape and the artists driving its international success.
