Man Escapes Lynching After Failed Rape Attempt On Mother

A 23 year old man identified as Gift said to be a native of Akwa Ibom  state narrowly escaped lynching after his  alleged  attempt to rape his biological mother, Mrs Akpan failed on Monday, September 28, along Emenike/Lumumber axis Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

A resident of the area who doesn’t want his name mentioned told  our correspondent that the Man who is the first child of the parents, trailed his mother to the bathroom in the public compound minutes after the mother went to bath.

An eyewitness disclosed that the man on getting to the bathroom starting knocking at the door but the mother refused to open the door which made the son tried to break the  door to force himself in.

It was gathered that Gift bite his mother severally when she resisted him from raping her while she screamed for help.

The source further explained that the alarm raised by Mrs Akpan drew the attention of her co-tenants who came and rescued her while the son was held .

Our correspondent reported that Mrs Akpan sustained severe injuries with blood gushing out of her arms,ear,left hand  due to the bite by the son in an attempt to subdue and rape her.

The incident attracted other residents in the area who descended heavily on Gift,beat him severely and was about lynching him when he escaped.

Other neighbours who spoke to our reporter said the motive for the action of the young man was yet to be ascertained.

As at press time, neither Mrs Akpan or the caretaker of the compound have reported the incident to the Police .
