Bovi Opens Up on Split from Basketmouth

Popular Nigerian comedian Bovi has provided clarity on the professional divergence between himself and his colleague, Basketmouth.

It’s well known that the history of their joint performances made this split a topic of significant public interest.

The two comedians, known for their successful on-stage collaborations in the past, have seen their professional interests take separate paths.

Addressing the state of their relationship directly, Bovi clarified that the separation was not born of conflict but of a strategic desire for financial autonomy and personal growth. He explained that the decision to pursue his own path was driven by a need to focus on his own brand and family, ultimately allowing him to achieve greater financial elevation.

“Basketmouth and I are cool. Nothing happened. Interests changed. I wanted to focus more and spend more time with my family, and also to elevate myself,” Bovi stated.

He further elaborated on his inherent drive for new challenges and the logical business sense behind headlining his own successful events. Bovi questioned the rationale of dividing profits from a capacity show when he could independently command the stage and the accompanying financial reward.

“I easily get bored doing something for too long, so I try something else. As you know, I went back to TV because I wanted to build my own brand. When I host shows at Eko Hotels, it fills up. So, why should I go and share money? Why should we be many doing one show?” he asked.
