Following its 81st Annual General Assembly (AGA) held in Ibadan, Oyo State, over the weekend, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has once again expressed its appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support of Nigerian football and all national teams.
It is worth noting that as recently as August, Tinubu hosted the Super Falcons to an extraordinary reception after their historic 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title, where he awarded players and officials with National Honours, house gifts, and substantial cash rewards.
This generosity towards the Super Falcons followed the Tinubu-led administration’s rewards to the Super Eagles for their silver medal achievement at the postponed 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire in early 2024.
In their communiqué after the Ibadan meeting, the NFF praised the Federal Government for its consistent support of Nigerian football and all National Teams, specifically acknowledging President Tinubu for his exceptional contributions.
Additionally, the NFF leadership received commendation from Congress members, as the Gusau-led board was granted a vote of confidence.

“The NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, MON, expressed his gratitude to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the unwavering support of the Federal Government towards Nigerian football and all National Teams,” the communiqué stated.
“The Congress also praised the National Sports Commission, led by Mallam Shehu Dikko, for its steadfast support of the Federation’s programs and initiatives.
In addition to granting “a unanimous vote of confidence in the leadership of the NFF Executive Committee, headed by Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau,” another significant aspect of the communiqué is the recognition of Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, for hosting the federation’s 81st AGA, as well as the U20 Women National Team, the Falconets, who were in Ibadan for their qualifying match against Rwanda for the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
