Bonny LG Chair Commends Progress of Road Project, Seeks Partnership On Drainage Construction

The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Hon. Amasenibo Abinye Blessing Pepple, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Bodo-Bonny Road project and affirmed confidence in its timely completion by March 2026.

This was revealed in a statement made available to TPCN on Saturday, September 27, by the Chief Press Secretary to Bonny LG, Mr. Wisdom Chapp-Jumbo.

According to the statement, Pepple gave this assurance during a visit to Julius Berger Nigeria (JBN) Plc’s Bonny office on Friday, September 26, 2025, where he engaged with the company’s management and received updates on the project’s status.

The chairman noted that “as a government, we are confident in the progress of the Bodo-Bonny Road project being handled by Julius Berger, particularly the community component, which is performing excellently.

“We are equally satisfied with the level of work and the cordial relationship with the Federal Ministry of Works and Julius Berger.”

The visit also opened discussions for a potential partnership focused on drainage and flood control solutions.

Pepple highlighted the urgent need to address the area’s flooding challenges.

“We face serious challenges with drainage and flooding. Under my administration, the Local Government is prepared to engage Julius Berger in designing and implementing a comprehensive drainage system that will mitigate flooding sustainably,” he added.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to stakeholder collaboration, the chairman announced plans to hold a Flood Summit on Monday, September 29, 2025.

The summit, organized by the Technical Committee on Flood Control and Drainage Management, aims to strengthen joint efforts toward flood mitigation.

Julius Berger’s Contract Manager, Mr. Karl Hermanson, praised the role of local contractors and the community in driving the project’s success.

He assured that while the road will officially be completed and commissioned by March 2026, it is expected to be accessible to users as early as December 2025.

Hermanson also thanked the local government for its ongoing support and promised continued collaboration.

Accompanying Pepple on the visit were Vice Chairman Mrs. Ibinyefagha Renner Alabere; former Bonny LGA Administrator Mr. Kingsley Banigo; Secretary to the Local Government Warisenibo Tamunotonye Adolphus Jumbo; Chief of Staff Mr. Soparagha Jumbo; Chief Security Officer Hon. Prince Christy-Wilcox; Revenue Committee Chairman Engr. Emmanuel Nengi Hart; and other officials and stakeholders.
