The 6 Division of the Nigerian Army has begun the third edition of its Finance Training Week in Port Harcourt, with a focus on digital finance innovation.
The training, held at the 6 Division Finance and Accounts Port Harcourt Barracks, is designed to equip officers with modern financial management skills to strengthen accountability in the use of army resources.
Declaring the event open, the General Officer Commanding, GOC 6 Division and Land Component Commander of Operation Delta Safe, Major General Emmanuel Eric- Emekah, stressed the importance of financial discipline in the army.

Major General Eric-Emekah commended the finance department for remaining diligent and professional, and urged participants to take the training seriously, noting that the benefits would go beyond finance personnel to the entire Nigerian Army.
Also speaking, the Chief of Accounts and Budget, Major General Adetukunbo Fayemiwo represented by the Administrator of the Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration, Major General Monday Ihanuwaze said the theme of the programme which is “Digital Finance Innovation: Building Competent 6 Division Finance Personnel For Smart Financial Management of Nigerian Army Financial Resources” underscores the need for continuous training.

He noted that all finance personnel must be adequately equipped to deliver effectively and commended the Chief of Army Staff for consistently addressing the welfare and training needs of the army.
The training week will feature lectures, workshops, and interactive sessions to prepare officers for smarter financial management in line with the army’s renewed commitment to transparency and efficiency.
