FG Unveils Theme, Activities for Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary

The Federal Government has announced the official theme and lineup of activities to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, scheduled for October 1, 2025.

Unveiling the theme on Wednesday in Abuja, the government declared the celebration will hold under the banner: “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”

Officials said the theme captures the need for renewed unity, patriotism, and collaboration across all sectors of society in pursuit of national growth.

According to Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), the theme reflects the importance of synergy between government, the private sector, civil society, and citizens in advancing peace, prosperity, and development.

He added that despite challenges since independence in 1960, Nigeria has made significant progress in key sectors of the economy, which must now be consolidated through collective effort.

Both events are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. respectively.

In addition, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, will address a world press conference on Monday, September 29, to further highlight the significance of the anniversary and outline government activities tied to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
