The NFF has officially announced the initiation of its D coaching licence, with 40 coaches enrolled in a six-day Coaching Course that commenced in Abuja on Tuesday.
NFF Technical Director, Coach Augustine Eguavoen, explained that the D-Licence acts as the foundational level for coaches, designed in modules for novices. He emphasised that it is a prerequisite before advancing to the C-Licence course and necessitates a minimum of 60 hours of training.
“Just as in life, everything in football progresses in stages. We have numerous talented young individuals, and the approach to coaching adults differs from that of coaching youth. Training young players demands specialised instruction.

“This course will not be a one-time event. Following this national initiative, we will extend it to the Zones and eventually to the States. We have 40 coaches participating in this programme, and I assure you they have much to gain,” the former Super Eagles coach concluded.
The revival of coaching courses in Nigeria began with the record-breaking CAF C-License programme exclusively for women coaches, which occurred last year (comprising three modules) with 30 participants.
The governing body subsequently organised a CAF B-License Course, which drew a total of 30 participants in April of this year. Additionally, there was a Coach Educators’ Course, which included 25 participants, approximately two months ago.
