Airtel Africa Foundation Targets to Impact Lives by 2030

The Airtel Africa Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Airtel Africa Plc, has unveiled an ambitious plan to directly impact 10 million lives across the continent by 2030 through initiatives under its four pillars: Financial Empowerment, Education, Environmental Protection, and Digital Inclusion (FEED).

Speaking at the launch on Tuesday, Chairman of the Foundation, Dr. Segun Ogunsanya, said the strategy represents a measurable commitment to building Africa’s future.

“Our 2030 vision is a transformed Africa where over 10 million lives are directly improved through our interventions. We are not just donating resources, we are building a pipeline of talent and fostering innovation to ensure the global digital revolution leaves no African behind,” he stated.

The Foundation’s programs include ‘Connecting Schools’, which provides free connectivity and devices, and the Airtel Africa Fellowship, offering full undergraduate scholarships in tech and STEM fields alongside mentorship and internships.

One of its early successes is its partnership with UNICEF, which has already connected more than 1,800 schools, benefitted over one million students, and trained 17,000 teachers in digital education across 14 African countries.

Airtel Africa Foundation will also expand its Employee Volunteer Program, channeling staff expertise into community projects. For the 2025/26 financial year, it has set new expansion targets across all 14 operating countries, including Nigeria, Zambia, Malawi, Rwanda, and the DRC.

Reaffirming the company’s commitment, Airtel Africa CEO Sunil Taldar said:

“We cannot thrive in a place that is not thriving. This is why the Airtel Africa Foundation was born, to catalyze transformation by systematically investing in the pillars that underpin a resilient and dynamic society.”
