Davido Becomes Grammy Voting Member

Davido

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has officially been inducted as a voting member of the Recording Academy, the body responsible for the prestigious GRAMMY Awards.

As part of this global network of music professionals, Davido will now contribute to the selection and voting process for the 2026 GRAMMYs. His membership was confirmed on Tuesday, September 23, when the Academy shared a video featuring him alongside other newly added members in an Instagram post.

“Creating a song or an album takes heart, time, and dedication. That’s why Recording Academy members, including #Davido… are sharing why your participation matters,” the post read.

The recognition gives the Feel hitmaker—who earned three GRAMMY nominations in 2024—a direct voice in shaping nominations and final winners.

Reflecting on the milestone, Davido expressed excitement:

“Understanding the importance of how our voices are heard, I am participating in the GRAMMY Award process. It is a game-changer. Voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and chosen each season. I am honoured to be part of the Recording Academy community, and I look forward to voting.”

His inclusion highlights the Academy’s ongoing efforts to expand and diversify its membership, ensuring broader representation of international and African artists in particular.

Voting for the 2026 GRAMMYs begins October 3, the Academy confirmed, urging members to “review the ballot, listen, and vote early.”
