Rivers High Court Resumes Normal Sitting Today Sept 18

Normal court sittings have resumed today at the High Court of Rivers after its 2025 Annual Vacation.

A statement by the Chief Registrar, High Court Of Rivers State, DAVIDIHUA-MADUENYI , urged members of the public to take note of the resumption of normal court sittings and resume their normal business at the court.

Our judiciary correspondent who visited the court premises said court proceedings and general activities have fully commenced as a handful of lawyers are on ground attending to case fills and their clients as well as hearings of adjourned cases have also commenced.

It could be recalled that the Rivers State Judiciary announced its 2025 Annual Vacation, during which all Judges of the High Court of Rivers State proceeded on break from Monday, July 21 to Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

The announcement was contained in a circular signed by the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor-Amadi, DSSRS, pursuant to Order 49 Rule 4(d) of the High Court of Rivers State (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2023 (as altered).

According to the circular, all Judicial Divisions of the High Court remained closed during the vacation period while normal court sittings are scheduled to resume on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

However, urgent matters and applications filed during the period were attended to by Vacation Judges designated by the Chief Judge.

This is in order for judges to enjoy their well- deserved rest and to prepare for the tasks and activities of the New Legal year.
