Education leaders, school owners, and other stakeholders are finalising plans for what is set to be Nigeria’s largest-ever gathering of teachers — the “Let There Be Teachers” Conference.

The event, scheduled for September 20, 2025, at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, aims to bring together at least 60,000 educators from across the country. Organisers say the unprecedented forum will provide a platform to recognise the vital role of teachers while addressing the persistent issues affecting Nigeria’s education system.

A statement from the General Secretary of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Mr Luyi Armstrong, revealed that a recent strategy session drew members of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, school administrators, and education advocates to fine-tune arrangements. Armstrong noted that the conference could set a Guinness World Record for the largest teachers’ assembly in the nation’s history.

He stressed that teachers remain at the heart of national development but often face difficult conditions, including low pay, overcrowded classrooms, inadequate resources, and limited opportunities for professional growth.

Conference convener, Oluwaseyi Anifowose, said the initiative represents a call to action for stakeholders to work collectively to transform the learning environment. “This gathering is a chance to celebrate educators and start conversations that can reshape the future of teaching in Nigeria,” he said.

Organisers urged teachers nationwide to register and attend, describing the meeting as a landmark moment for the profession.
