Chef Dammy Denies Plans to Challenge Guinness World Record

In the wake of Hilda Baci’s widely celebrated Guinness World Record achievement for the ‘Largest pot of jollof rice,’ another prominent Nigerian culinary personality has found herself at the center of public speculation. Damilola Adeparusi, popularly known as Chef Dammy, has officially denied rumors that she intends to pursue a similar record attempt for the largest pot of beans.

The speculation began circulating shortly after Baci’s successful record-breaking feat, which captured national pride and international attention. However, Chef Dammy moved quickly to set the record straight. In a video statement shared across her social media platforms this past Wednesday, the Ekiti-born chef directly addressed the growing inquiries from fans and even classmates.

”So, I am making this video because of those asking if I want to cook again?

“Some of my classmates are asking if I truly want to cook beans?’ Like, no! Why would I do that?“

She expressed confusion over the rumours, firmly stating that she has no plans to embark on such a culinary endeavour. Instead, she used the opportunity to extend her heartfelt congratulations to Hilda Baci for her monumental accomplishment. Chef Dammy praised not only Baci but also dedicated the success to Nigeria and the broader African community, highlighting the achievement as a collective victory.

“I will like to say a very big congratulations to Miss Hilda for the just completed project of cooking the biggest pot of jollof rice to feed thousands. Congratulations to Nigeria and to all the African countries,” Dammy stated.

Chef Dammy first rose to national prominence in 2023 following her own controversial cook-a-thon attempt, which sparked significant public discourse and cemented her status as a notable figure in the Nigerian food scene.
