Rivers State Health Scheme Records 110,000 Enrollees

The Board chairman of Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Program, RIVCHPP, Professor Princewill Chike, has confirmed that over one hundred and ten thousand enrollees have been recorded in the State.

Professor Chike, who confirmed this to newsmen after a board meeting in Port Harcourt, stated that the team is trying to unbundle the secondary care to expand the scope of the service.

“From last year when they commenced until when the board was officially inaugurated by the Sole Administrator, we in this board have resolved to make sure that the Universal health coverage is covered and that Rivers people and anyone living in Rivers state benefit from it.” Prof Chike said.

Professor Chike, who assured the people of the state of the best facilities, also advised enrollees that National Identification number, NIN, would be required for effective capturing.

“We have check and balances, we have our personnel we are sending to the local government to make sure all the necessary things are done, we encourage people to enroll, we need their national identification number, the National Health Insurance Agency is also emphasizing that NIN is necessary”. He added

He further urged health workers to be proactive and live up to the standard to handle patients and caregivers respectfully.

The RIVCHPP Board chairman, while commending the present administration of Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas for inaugurating the board, called upon local government chairmen to encourage the people at the grassroots to enroll in the program.
