“No Problem Between Amusan and the Athletics Federation” -Okowa

The President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Chief Tonobok Okowa, has reaffirmed the commitment of the kits supplier, HiRacer, to fulfill the cash reward of $20,000 to Amusan for her silver medal achievement at the ongoing 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. He emphasized that the federation is dedicated to enhancing the welfare of athletes.

‎During a meeting in Tokyo on Monday night with Amusan and the Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Chief Bukola Olopade, Okowa made it clear that he has no personal issues with the 100m hurdles world record holder, who has been a significant asset to the Federation.

‎He clarified that the alleged kits controversy was simply a misunderstanding, noting that all concerns have been addressed, and the AFN will continue to prioritize the welfare of athletes.

‎”At the meeting, I once again congratulated Tobi Express for her remarkable spirit in securing the silver in the 100-meter hurdles final. It was a proud moment for Team Nigeria,” Okowa remarked.
