Happie Boys Return, Publicly Apologize to OPM Pastor

The viral internet sensations known as the Happie Boys have returned to Nigeria and have publicly apologised to Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, the founder of Omega Power Ministries (OPM). The duo, whose real names are Matthew Kelechi and Amakor Johnson, confessed to being misled into a public feud with the cleric who had initially sponsored their education abroad.

The boys rose to fame in February 2022 after a viral dance video while working as security guards at a Chicken Republic outlet in Aba. Apostle Chinyere, in a philanthropic gesture, offered them a fully funded scholarship to study in Cyprus. However, their relationship with the cleric turned sour in June 2023 after they were deported to Nigeria and made public claims that the Apostle had stopped paying their tuition.

The Apostle, for his part, debunked the allegations and stated that he had offered to transfer them to a Nigerian university. The feud escalated in August 2023 when the Happie Boys allegedly made a series of false and damaging accusations against the OPM founder, including claims of sexual misconduct.

According to a now-viral video from Sunday, September 14, the boys, accompanied by their parents and relatives, were seen at the OPM church in Port Harcourt publicly retracting their allegations and pleading for forgiveness. They confessed that a man named Daniel Ochu had deceived them with false promises of taking them to America in exchange for their publicly attacking the Apostle.

In the viral clip, the boys admitted to their mistake and expressed deep remorse for their actions. The Apostle, who had previously dismissed the accusations as blackmail, accepted their apology and prayed for them and their families. He also took to his official Facebook page to explain that Ochu’s actions were motivated by a grudge after he refused to give him money for his non-governmental organisation. The public apology brings an end to a long-running public feud and serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of being misled and the importance of loyalty.
