‎Diella Appointed as The World’s First AI-Made Minister

‎Albania has made history by becoming the first nation globally to appoint an AI minister, not merely a minister overseeing AI, but a virtual minister composed of pixels and code, driven by artificial intelligence.

‎Her name is Diella, which translates to sunshine in Albanian, and according to Prime Minister Edi Rama, she will oversee all public procurement, as he announced on Thursday.

‎During the summer, Rama speculated that the nation might one day have a digital minister and potentially an AI prime minister, yet few anticipated that this day would arrive so swiftly.

‎At the Socialist Party assembly in Tirana on Thursday, where Rama revealed which ministers would be dismissed and which would continue for another term, he also presented Diella, the sole non-human member of the cabinet.

‎“Diella is the first member who is not physically present, but is virtually created through artificial intelligence,” he informed party members.

‎Rama indicated that decisions regarding tenders would be removed “from the ministries” and entrusted to Diella, who is “the servant of public procurement.”

He mentioned that the process will be “step-by-step,” but Albania will transform into a nation where public tenders are “100 percent incorruptible and where every public fund involved in the tender process is 100 percent transparent.”

‎“This is not science fiction, but the responsibility of Diella,” he asserted.

‎Diella has already been introduced to the citizens of Albania as she operates the country’s e-Albania platform, which enables citizens to access nearly all government services online. She even has an avatar, depicted as a young woman wearing traditional Albanian attire.

‎Diella will assess tenders and possess the authority to dismantle the fear of bias and rigidity within the administration.

‎Albania has faced persistent challenges with corruption, especially in public administration and public procurement. This issue has been consistently emphasized by the European Union in its annual rule of law report.
