DeeOne to Employ 700 Workers in Guinness Comedy Record Bid

‎Nigerian comedian Aderombi Adedayo Martin, better known by his stage name DeeOne, has announced plans to employ more than 700 people as part of his attempt to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest stand-up comedy performance.

‎DeeOne revealed the development in a video shared on Instagram on Thursday, noting that the effort would require a large workforce across several departments. He disclosed that about 90 personnel will be directly involved in production, while others will handle catering, ushering, security and related support roles.

‎“DeeOne’s show is employing over 700 people on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th of October,” he wrote in the caption accompanying his post.

‎The record-breaking event, billed to run for 40 hours, will be held in Lagos and is expected to attract a wide audience. The comedian, who first rose to prominence after participating in a reality TV show, said he is determined to push the boundaries of creativity and endurance in the comedy industry.

‎The announcement has generated excitement across social media, with fans and colleagues pledging their support. Comedian Josh2funny described him as “my favourite comedian,” while singer Teddy A cheered, “Let’s go!” Actress Tonto Dikeh also offered words of encouragement, assuring him of her backing.

‎Followers and supporters flooded the comment section with goodwill messages, commending DeeOne’s ambition and resilience. Many hailed the attempt not only as a personal milestone but also as a move that would create temporary jobs for hundreds of Nigerians.

‎If successful, the feat will secure DeeOne a place in the Guinness World Records, adding to Nigeria’s growing list of entertainment-related achievements on the global stage.
