Opobo/Nkoro Chairman Reaffirms Commitment To Transparent Governance, Seeks Stakeholders Support

In his effort to ensure that the Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State charts a new path toward sustainable development, the newly elected chairman, Barr. James Afonya James has called on all stakeholders to lend their support.

James made this call on Tuesday, September 9, in Opobo Town, during the inauguration of the 8th Legislative Assembly of the council.

The LG boss who spoke during the inauguration reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability.

He emphasised that his administration would build on existing foundations and initiate legacy projects that would stand the test of time.

Following the inauguration, the newly sworn-in councillors conducted internal elections to appoint key officers of the Legislative Assembly.

The election results saw Hon. Barr. Samuel I. Nengia emerged as Leader of the House, while Hon. Christiana Emmanuel Telema was elected Deputy Leader. Hon. Charles D. Fubara was chosen to serve as Chief Whip.
