Traditional rulers in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area have been urged to partner with government to ensure even development and security of lives and properties.
The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Dr. Gift Worlu made this appeal on Wednesday 10-09-25 during a meeting with the Council of Traditional Rulers held in the Executive Chamber of the Obio/Akpor Council Secretariat, Rumuodomaya.

Dr. Worlu explained that after meeting with security agencies, he decided to engage with the traditional rulers, who are both custodians of treasured tradition and promoters of peace and order in the local government area.
The Chairman noted that the meeting was aimed at familiarizing himself with the traditional rulers, following his victory at the August 30th Local Government elections in Rivers State and his subsequent swearing-in.
He also informed the traditional rulers that the Obio/Akpor Legislative Assembly and Vice Chairman had been inaugurated earlier in the week.

Dr. Worlu identified critical challenges confronting the local government, including youth involvement in drug abuse, rising cases of out-of-school children, road encroachment by traders, and the destruction of farm produce by cattle rearers, etc.
