Bonny LGA Chairman Empowers Groundnut Seller with N500,000

In a gesture of goodwill and a direct fulfillment of a campaign promise, the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area in Rivers State, Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, has empowered a groundnut seller, Ms. Jumbo Amie Bernard, with a substantial financial grant.

The empowerment, which took place on today the 9th of September, 2025 saw the woman receive a cash sum of N500,000 to support and expand her business.

The Chairman explained that he had closely observed Ms. Jumbo Amie’s resilience and dedication to her trade while she operated within the Council Secretariat during his recent campaigns.

Her consistency and hard work inspired him to make her a direct beneficiary of his administration’s commitment to supporting small-scale enterprises and improving the livelihoods of local entrepreneurs.

The act is being highlighted as a significant move to demonstrate that political promises can be translated into tangible and impactful actions.

The cash support was presented to Ms. Jumbo Amie by the Vice Chairman of the Bonny Local Government Area, Mrs. Ibinyefagha Alabere, on behalf of the Chairman.

While presenting the grant, Mrs. Alabere commended the groundnut seller’s industriousness and encouraged her to remain steadfast. The empowerment of a small-scale vendor with such a significant amount of capital underscores the administration’s focus on grassroots economic development.
