Military Strikes Hard: 35 Arrested in Gunrunning Crackdown

Troops of 6 Division, Nigerian Army, have arrested gunrunners in different locations across the Niger Delta region.

The arrest Followed a painstaking intelligence by some members of the public which resulted in successful smashing of gunrunning syndicates noted for their notoriety in trafficking Small Arms and Light Weapons to criminals across the Niger Delta Region .

The operation also led to the interception of two English pistols, four locally fabricated pistols, and a double-barrelled gun.

The criminals were noted to be engaged in arms deals using the Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa States corridor for the discreet movement of illicit weapons within the region.

The gunrunners were identified as Innocent Emiyemokumo Deidei (AKA Sele Bobo), Godknows Alabor Avor, and Godwin Osik, were apprehended at different times through intelligence-driven operations.

The suspects and arms recovered were later handed over to the relevant security agencies for prosecution.

Meanwhile , troops of 6 division, Nigerian army have made notable gains between 25 August and 7 September 2025 with regards to the destruction of six illegal refining sites.

According to the spokesman of the 6 division ,Nigerian army, lieutenant colonel Danjuma Jonah, 35 criminals were arrested . The soldiers according to Danjuma Also confiscated 14,000 litres of stolen products.

The operations were carried out in Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom States.
