‎Hopes For Nigeria as SA ‘Super Defender’ Ruled Out of Eagles Clash‎

‎Bafana Bafana will be missing one defender for the upcoming match against Nigeria on Tuesday, September 9, due to an injury, as confirmed by Hugo Broos. The head coach of Bafana Bafana has announced that Nyiko Mobbie will not participate in the FIFA World Cup qualifier against Nigeria on Tuesday.

‎The 30-year-old right-back was substituted early in the match against Lesotho due to an injury and was replaced by Mamelodi Sundowns defender Zuko Mdenyelwa.

‎Bafana secured a 3-0 victory at the Free State Stadium on Friday, but they had to make two substitutions because of injuries.

‎ “It’s unfortunate that we are dealing with these injuries. [Thabo] Moloisane is not too serious, but Mobbie is definitely out,” Broos stated to the media.

‎”We will need to bring in another player, and we will make that decision in the next hour. This is the only downside of the match. However, such situations can arise in any game. I observed a very motivated and aggressive team from Lesotho.”

‎Currently, Bafana holds 16 points in Group C and requires a victory against Nigeria to secure qualification for the 2026 World Cup. It is uncertain whether Moloisane will be available for Tuesday’s match; however, Mobbie has been confirmed as unavailable for the highly anticipated encounter.

‎”This is also a consequence of the injuries we are facing. Nevertheless, our CEO [Lydia Monyepao] will make a decision regarding the game on Tuesday. We have a roster of players, and the individual who will join us on Monday will arrive tomorrow [Saturday] and will be someone we trust,” Broos mentioned.

‎Bafana will face Nigeria on Tuesday, fully aware that a victory could potentially lead them to qualify for the global tournament with matches to spare.
