Former Obio Akpor Chairman Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo, a prominent figure in Rivers State, today reportedly survived an assassination attempt in the Chinda area of Rumueme, located in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
According to an official statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Dr. Amadi Eze, the attack took place in the early hours of the day and involved unidentified gunmen who targeted the Ambassador.
Though specific details of the incident remain scarce as investigations are still ongoing, the attack was described as a direct threat to Ihunwo’s life. Several valuable personal items were also reportedly lost during the encounter.
“This was a cowardly act aimed at silencing a man who has consistently stood for peace, unity, and progress in Rivers State,” Dr. Eze stated.
