A prominent political figure in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) of Rivers State, Mr. Onyebuchi Ilona, has called on the newly inaugurated local government executives to place peace and unity at the forefront of their administration.
According to Mr. Ilona, fostering peace is essential for achieving sustainable development in the region.
Speaking during an interview with our correspondent, on Tuesday Mr. Ilona emphasized the importance of teamwork among the newly sworn-in political office holders. He advised them to see their new responsibilities as a call to serve the people selflessly and to always seek divine guidance in their leadership journey.
“For the incoming executive, we advise them to pray to God—for God to give them the knowledge and wisdom to be able to give that spirit of leadership and unite people,” Mr. Ilona said, adding that only through collective effort and spiritual guidance can meaningful progress be achieved.

He further stressed that unity and cooperation among leaders would ensure stability and development across all sectors within the local government.
Also, another stakeholder in the area, Mr. Joseph Akata, urged the newly elected officials to immediately address the pressing needs of the people. He noted that the expectations of the residents are high and that the new leadership must be proactive in delivering basic services and infrastructure.
Mr. Akata, while commenting on the recently concluded elections, described the process as free and fair, dismissing allegations of malpractice as unsubstantiated.
