National Orientation Agency Holds Sensitization Meeting on Thematic Areas of Values in Port Harcourt

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), says it would organize meetings with leadership of student unions in Rivers State to reorient students against extreme graduation practices which do not align with National values.

Speaking at Press Briefing to Flag Off the Nationwide enlightenment campaign on Five thematic areas of Values, the Director General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Isah Onilu said that the Federal Government is working towards ensuring that Nigerian students and Youths embody patriotism and positive National character.

Mallam Lanre Isah Onilu who was represented by the Director, Environment, Climate and Energies Department, Mr. Emeka Egbugara at the program which held in Port Harcourt reiterated that the agency is responsible for the Sensitization of the public on government policies, programmes and activities.

He explained that five thematic areas includes Values reorientation for students against sign out extreme practices, campaign on flood mitigation, campaign on enlightenment campaign on government policies and programs, Security Awareness and Campaign on the Nigerian Identity project.

Mallam Onilu explained that National Values Re-orientation will focus on campaigns aimed at familiarising the public with the current National Anthem, Patriotism campaigns and Federal Government programs that are geared towards improving the livelihood of Nigerians and promote adherence to right attitude towards the National Flag, the Naira, the Nigerian Passport amongst others.

He also mentioned that under the Renewed Hope Security Architecture, the Chief of Defence Staff had directed the establishment of specialised units of the Armed Forces aimed at enabling rapid response and deploying strategies aimed at tackling diverse security challenges which include the deployment of drones, armoured vehicles, surveillance technologies and 15,000 new security personnel have been deployed nationwide

Also speaking at the briefing, the Rivers State Director of the NOA, Dr. Edward Banigo said the need to educate the public on the positive programs rolled out by President Bola Tinubu necessitated the briefing.

Dr. Banigo urged those present to use their mediums to inform the public of government positive developmental programs and encourage Nigerians to be patriotic and law abiding.

He explained that despite the numerous challenges confronting the Nation, President Bola Tinubu through various proactive economic policies such as the NELFund, National Youth Investment fund, Renewed Hope Infrastructure fund which aims to renovate over seven hundred rural schools across the country is gradually putting in place lasting economic legacies that would stand the test of time.

Dr. Banigo stated that NOA officials have been mobilized to engage with people across the local governments in Rivers State to ensure that issues such as disrespect for National Symbols, Abuse of the Naira and participation in National Empowerment programs become topics of focal and communal discussion to bring about positive change.

The briefing which brought together members of the Media and staff of NOA had question and answer session on various government programs and policies
