2Face Crowns Burna Boy Nigeria’s Number One Artist

Burna Boy

Legendary Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face, has declared Burna Boy as the leading artist in Nigeria today, calling him the “senior” among the current generation of Afrobeats stars.

Speaking in a recent interview with Urban FM, Enugu, the African Queen crooner praised Burna Boy’s dominance, consistency, and global impact, stating that no other artist currently matches his level of influence.

“On a personal level, Burna Boy is my number one. Although I still have other artists that I admire. But personally, as an artist, Burna Boy is my number one right now. Among all the others I am referring to, he is the senior,” 2Face said.

He acknowledged that Nigeria is blessed with a long list of remarkable talents, including Wizkid, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Asake, Rema, and Olamide, but emphasised that Burna Boy stands out as the most dominant figure in the industry at the moment.

“There are still other ones that are coming up behind him that I see going to the same level,” he added.

2Face’s endorsement comes as Burna Boy continues to solidify his status as a global music powerhouse, with multiple international awards, sold-out stadium tours, and chart-topping albums. His recent Grammy win and collaborations with global icons have further elevated his profile, making him one of Africa’s most celebrated exports.

The statement has sparked fresh debate among fans and industry insiders about who truly holds the crown in Nigeria’s vibrant music scene. While opinions may vary, 2Face’s recognition of Burna Boy as the “senior” carries weight, given his own legacy as one of the pioneers of Afrobeats.
