Skales Attributes Career Breakthrough to Prayer at Shiloh

Nigerian singer Raoul Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, has credited a pivotal moment of prayer at the 2013 Shiloh programme of the Living Faith Church (Winners’ Chapel) as the turning point in his music career.

At the time, Skales was facing a period of uncertainty following the expiration of his contract with Empire Mate Entertainment (EME), the record label co-founded by Banky W. According to the artist, his fortunes changed after fellow musician Timaya invited him to attend Shiloh, a spiritual gathering known for its emphasis on faith and prophetic declarations.

During the programme, attendees were asked to write down seven things they wanted God to do for them. Skales revealed that he wrote the same request seven times: a song that would reach the ends of the earth.

“In 2013 @timayatimaya took me to Shiloh and we were told to write down 7 things we are praying for and I wrote a song that will take me to the ends of the world 7 times,” he shared on his X handle.

That prayer, he believes, was answered with the release of his 2015 hit single “Shake Body”, which initially gained traction across Africa and has now found renewed global relevance. The song recently resurfaced after Barcelona football star Lamine Yamal and several teammates danced to it in a viral TikTok video, sparking a wave of international attention.

Skales described the track as a “divine unending song,” noting that each time the buzz around it seems to fade, something new emerges to reignite its popularity.

“Fast forward till today, he gave me a divine unending song … when they think it’s over, another thing pops up about this damn song… Lord Jesus, thank you,” he wrote.

The resurgence of “Shake Body” has not only reaffirmed Skales’ belief in the power of faith but also introduced his music to a new generation of global listeners. The artist has since released a follow-up track titled “D.L.L.Y (Dance Like Lamine Yamal)” in collaboration with Spanish artist 3dnan, further cementing his international appeal.
