Toke Makinwa

Media personality and entrepreneur Toke Makinwa has announced the birth of her daughter, marking a new chapter in her personal life. In a heartfelt statement shared on Thursday, August 28, Makinwa expressed profound joy and gratitude, describing the arrival of her child as a divine miracle.

“I’m a Mommy… This is the happiest I’ve ever been,” she wrote, alongside a photo of her newborn’s hand gently clasping her finger.

The baby girl has been named Yakira Eliana, with additional Yoruba names that reflect deep spiritual and cultural significance: Olakitan, Iyanuloluwa, Ikeoluwa, and Adunola. Makinwa explained the meanings behind the names, highlighting themes of answered prayers, divine mercy, and personal transformation.

“My precious daughter, the love I never knew existed… I have seen the goodness of God,” she said.

The announcement comes after months of speculation surrounding Makinwa’s journey to motherhood. Earlier this year, she hinted at her pregnancy during a private celebration and later confirmed she was expecting a girl. Known for her openness about personal struggles and triumphs, Makinwa has previously spoken about her desire to become a mother and the emotional path that led her there.

At 40, she now embraces motherhood with a renewed sense of purpose, describing her daughter as “my reason, my evidence” and thanking God for hearing her prayers “down to your fingers and toes.”

The baby’s full name, Yakira Eliana, translates to “Precious, Beloved, My God has answered,” encapsulating the sentiment behind the announcement.

Toke signed off her message as “Mama Yaya,” a nickname that reflects her new role and the deep affection she holds for her child.
