‎Stanley Nwabali Doubtful for World Cup Qualifiers Clash

Nwabali

Chippa United’s goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, might not be able to play in Nigeria’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa because he is injured.

‎Nwabali had to leave the field on a stretcher during the 35th minute of Chippa United’s match against Richards Bay in the South African Premier Soccer League on Tuesday night.

‎The 29-year-old is trying to recover quickly so he can take part in the matches against Rwanda and South Africa.

‎He was named in Nigeria’s 31-player provisional squad for the important qualifiers, which was announced last week. Other goalkeepers in the squad are Adebayo Adeleye, Amas Obasogie, and Ebenezer Harcourt.

‎The club’s medical team is planning to do more tests to figure out how serious his injury is and what steps to take next.

‎As Nigeria’s main goalkeeper, Nwabali’s possible absence from the World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa would be a big problem.

‎With 21 caps for Nigeria, he is an important part of Eric Chelle’s plan for the qualifiers next month.

‎In addition to Nwabali’s situation, Maduka Okoye is also not available because he is suspended for two months due to being involved in illegal betting.

‎Amas Obasogie, who plays for Tanzanian club Singida Black Stars Sports Club, is not a regular player for the Super Eagles and has not yet played for the national team.

‎Adebayo Adeleye, who has one cap for Nigeria, plays in the Greek top league with Volos NPS.
