Remo Star and Super Eagles B Captain Joins Iraqi Side

Nduka

Erbil SC, an Iraqi football club, has officially announced the acquisition of Nduka Junior, who serves as the captain of the home-based Super Eagles.

‎According to a report released on Wednesday, August 27, Iraqi team Erbil FC has announced the acquisition of Nduka Junior, the captain of Remo Stars, who guided the Super Eagles B squad in the CHAN tournament.

‎Nduka is anticipated to leverage his experience and leadership skills to bolster Erbil’s defence in preparation for the upcoming Iraq Stars League season.

‎”The Emperor has secured a 3-year contract with the Nigerian national team and the defence line ‘Nduka Junior’,” the announcement states.

‎”The player from the Nigerian national team operates in the central defence position.”

‎Junior is a product of the youth academy at Remo Stars. He was appointed team captain in 2020 while still a teenager. He successfully guided the team to promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in 2021.

‎Junior has consistently performed well for Remo and was captain when the club achieved its first-ever league title in 2024.

‎At just 22 years old, he was also appointed captain of the home-based Eagles for the African Nations Championship (CHAN), which is taking place in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.

‎Unfortunately, the home-based team was eliminated in the group stage after suffering defeats in their first two matches against Senegal and Sudan. They managed to secure a victory against Congo Brazzaville in a meaningless final group match.

‎Erbil SC is recognised as one of the most successful clubs in the Iraqi Stars League, having won the league title four times and being the first Iraqi team to reach the final of the Asian Champions League II.
