The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RSSF), has now taken the lead in trying to get the international future of Darlington Osuchukwu, a top young goalkeeper from Manchester United’s youth team.
Osuchukwu was born in Murcia, which makes him eligible to play for Spain by birth. He can also represent Nigeria through his parents and England because he has lived there.
Until recently, England was thought to be the favorite, as Osuchukwu had been invited to train with the Young Lions teams for U15 and U16.
But now, Spain has made a big move by inviting him to join their U17 squad for the first time. This happened after he showed great skills during Manchester United’s U16 tour in Hong Kong. He performed well in several penalty shootouts, which made him stand out as a very promising goalkeeper in his age group.

The Spain U17 team is gathering in Alfaz del Pí from Monday, August 25 to Thursday, August 28, as they prepare for the upcoming European U17 Championship qualifiers in October.
Osuchukwu is expected to take part in this camp, which might be the first step in choosing which country he will represent internationally.
If he plays in the qualifiers against Andorra, Latvia, or Denmark in October, he will be considered as officially tied to Spain.
If he later decides to switch to Nigeria or England, FIFA would need to approve the change.
Osuchukwu started his football journey in Spain with Gazte Berriak and Osasuna before moving to England three years ago when his family moved there for work.
