‎2026 WC Qualifiers: Osimhen Leads Among Fast Shooters

With the transfer situation now settled, Victor Osimhen is set to assist the Super Eagles in regaining their form for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers as the tournament resumes next month.

‎Reports show that Osimhen is one of five forwards picked by coach Eric Chelle for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda on September 6 in Uyo and South Africa on September 9 in Bloemfontein.

‎Osimhen has officially moved from Napoli to sign a major permanent deal with Turkish top team Galatasaray.

‎He has now joined Galatasaray permanently after a successful loan spell. Laurentiis told Sette, a magazine from Corriere della Sera, that he was happy with the deal.

‎”We sold him to Galatasaray for 75 million euros plus extra money.

‎And both sides are happy,” he said. The transfer talks took a long time and were complicated, but mainly dealt with the terms from the Italian club and their active president.

‎In March, he scored all three goals as the Super Eagles beat host Rwanda 2-0 in Kigali, then drew 1-1 with Zimbabwe in Uyo.

‎Cyriel Dessers, who did well at the Unity Cup in London, and Tolu Arokodare, who made his debut in Rwanda, are also in the squad, along with Victor Boniface and Sadiq Umar.

‎Even though Paul Onuachu, the Trabzonspor striker, started well in the new season, he has been left out of this round of qualifiers. He was in Eric Chelle’s first squad in March.
