‎”Nigeria Came Like A Wounded Lion”- Congo Coach

‎Congo’s head coach, Barthelemy Ngatsono, has admitted that the home-based Super Eagles rightfully earned their victory over his team during Tuesday night’s Group D match at the 2024 African Nations Championship.

‎A recent report indicates that the East Africans suffered a 2-0 defeat against Eric Chelle’s squad in the match held at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

‎The report states that Congo required a win to secure a spot in the quarter-finals, but failed to overcome Eric Chelle’s team.

‎The first half ended in a 0-0 stalemate, but Anas Yusuf and Sikiru Alimi scored for Nigeria in the second half.

‎Following this loss, Ngatsono’s team was eliminated from the CHAN 2024 finals. The coach acknowledged that the Home Eagles were too formidable for his squad.

‎”Nigeria was better prepared and in better physical condition than we were, which hindered our ability to maintain ball control. Nigeria was like a wounded lion.”

‎“Even with our thorough preparation leading up to the match, we did not perform as we had intended,” he was quoted as saying by CAFonline.
