RSIEC Publicizes Names of Successful Candidates

The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RISIEC, has confirmed the publication of names of candidates who were successful in the screening that took place from Friday 8th of August, 2025 to Tuesday 12th of August, 2025 at the Commission’s Headquarters in Port Harcourt.

A statement by the Chairman and Chief Electoral Commissioner Dr. Michael Odey, the names of successful candidates have been published since Friday the 12th of August, 2025 in line with the revised Election Timetable.

He noted that the commission has complied with all the requisite guidelines established by the constitution to ensure a hitch free local government elections in the state.

Dr. Odey urged Political Parties and candidates to visit RSIEC headquarters to check their namesake posted on the Commission’s notice board.

Recall that RSIEC Director of Administration and Legal services, Professor Chidi Halliday speaking to newsmen stated that the commission has obtained the updated voter register, met the one hundred and fifty days notice and has not ran foul of the 30 days allowed by the amended emergency regulations which he noted had not been challenged by a court of competent jurisdiction.
