Nigeria’s D’Tigers reinforced their title credentials with a commanding 99–90 victory over Cameroon in their final Group B game at the 2025 FIBA Men’s AfroBasket in Luanda, Angola.
The win secured their quarter-final ticket and confirmed Nigeria as group leaders heading into the knockout stage.
In front of 2,000 fans at the Pavilhao Multiusos de Luanda, the contest began evenly, with Nigeria edging the first quarter 28–27. The D’Tigers then turned on the style, dominating the second quarter 32–16 before tightening their grip with a 26–12 third-quarter performance.
Cameroon staged a late fightback, led by Yves Thierry Ouwe Missi’s 23 points, as they poured in 37 points in the final period. But Nigeria’s cushion proved unassailable.

Josh Okogie once again delivered for the D’Tigers, scoring 24 points and earning the TCL Player of the Game award with an efficiency rating of 22. His all-around impact inspired a well-rounded Nigerian team performance.
Nigeria’s shooting accuracy also stood out — 56% from the field and an impressive 67.7% from two-point range. A 13–0 run in the middle quarters effectively killed off Cameroon’s challenge, despite their 39.5% shooting from beyond the arc.
With the result, Nigeria finished atop Group B, extending their streak of high-scoring wins and sending a clear warning to future opponents. The 2015 champions are now firmly in the hunt for another AfroBasket crown, a decade after their first.
