RSIEC To Publish Names of Candidates From Political Parties Cleared For LGA Elections

Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) says it will soon publish the names of candidates from political parties who have been cleared to take part in the August 30 local government elections.

RSIEC Chairman, Michael Odey, made this known when members of the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on Emergency Rule Implementation visited the commission. He said RSIEC is already working closely with security agencies to ensure the elections are free and fair.

The Chief Electoral Officer of RSIEC added that the commission is not distracted by what he described as a “sideshow” and went on to explain how prepared they are for the polls.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee, Professor Julius Ihonvbere, advised RSIEC to involve key stakeholders, including INEC, at every stage of preparations for the council polls.
