‎NPFL Announced A New Date To End The 2025/2026 Season

‎‎According to a recent report, it has been stated that the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season is set to conclude on May 24, 2026, as per the complete fixtures released by the league board on Thursday.

‎With just over a week remaining until the new season begins, and following two weeks since the initial fixtures were announced, the league authority unveiled the full schedule on Thursday.

‎Defending champions Remo Stars will commence their 2025/26 season with a prominent match against the 2022 champions, Rivers United, in what is expected to be an exciting opening game on August 22 in Ikenne.

‎Remo Stars secured the 2024/25 NPFL title, amassing 71 points to achieve their first-ever NPFL championship.

‎The opening weekend will be succeeded by 18 additional weeks of competition, culminating in a mid-season break from December 30, 2025, to January 6, 2026.

‎The mid-season transfer window will also be open from January 1 to 30, as 20 clubs continue their battle for dominance.

‎Match-day 38 is scheduled for Sunday, May 24, 2026, featuring fixtures that will see the reigning champions Remo Stars conclude their season away against Bendel Insurance.

‎Other match-day 38 matchups include Rangers International facing Ikorodu City in Lagos, Plateau United clashing with Kano Pillars in Jos, and Rivers United hosting Katsina United.

‎Meanwhile, the NPFL is progressively moving towards the implementation of the Video Assistant Referee system and is also in search of new broadcasting partners, with the potential for both to be introduced next season.

‎After selecting several referees for VAR training, the NPFL has instructed clubs to enhance their stadiums to comply with the necessary standards for VAR usage.
