Nollywood star Lizzy Gold has shed light on the previously undisclosed details surrounding her strained relationship with fellow actress Destiny Etiko, attributing their years-long rift to toxic rumours circulating within the entertainment industry.
In an emotional Instagram post that has since gone viral, Gold disclosed that unfounded gossip and false narratives led to a complete communication breakdown between the once-close friends for nearly two years. The actress didn’t hold back in expressing how deeply the separation affected her, particularly given her reserved nature in forming industry friendships.

Despite the painful period of estrangement, Gold spoke glowingly about Etiko’s character, describing her as one of the most genuine and understanding colleagues in Nollywood. She emphasised that their rekindled friendship has made her more resilient against negative influences in the industry.
The star issued a stern warning to rumour peddlers while advising Etiko to never again allow external forces to disrupt their bond. Her poignant caption read: “Two years ago, we separated as friends because of ‘them say’ in Nollywood. I became lonely because I don’t make friends easily like you do. Thank God you realised you were deceived and came back.”
