Popular actor and activist Debo Adebayo, widely known as Mr Macaroni, has publicly criticised Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), over her response to the airport misconduct involving Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM1).
The controversy stems from an incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, where KWAM1 reportedly clashed with ValueJet staff after being stopped from boarding with a flask allegedly containing alcohol. The aircraft’s pilot, Captain Ranti Ogoyi, claimed the singer spilled the contents on her during the confrontation and later stood in front of the plane to prevent its departure.
Following public backlash, KWAM1 issued an apology to President Bola Tinubu, the flight captain, and his fans. Dabiri-Erewa, a known associate of the singer, shared the apology video on social media with the caption:
“Kwam1’s apology on the airport incident. To err is human.”
Her post drew sharp criticism from Mr Macaroni, who accused her of setting a dangerous precedent by appearing to excuse criminal behaviour simply because of an apology.

“Ma, I just want to say that this is highly reprehensible. You don’t deserve to hold a public office,” he wrote on X.
“You have set a very dangerous precedent with this tweet. You have told Nigerians it is okay to commit a crime and can issue an apology to absolve yourself without consequences.”
Mr Macaroni also compared the case to the swift imprisonment of Comfort Emmanson, the female passenger involved in the recent Ibom Air incident, arguing that the disparity in treatment reveals deep flaws in Nigeria’s justice system.
“Justice in Nigeria must not depend on who is involved. The law must apply equally to all,” he added.
The exchange has reignited public debate on accountability, celebrity privilege, and the role of public officials in shaping ethical standards.
