‎Unity Cup Victory Proves We Can Bounce Back -Captain Nduka

‎According to a recent report, it is stated that Nduka Junior, the captain of the Super Eagles B, believes that the team’s victory in the Unity Cup has strengthened their capacity to bounce back from challenges as they gear up for a crucial African Nations Championship group match against Sudan today in Zanzibar.

‎Nduka mentioned that the players have swiftly moved on from recent setbacks, including a 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe in Uyo that hindered the Super Eagles’ chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, demonstrating their resilience by winning the Unity Cup title shortly thereafter.

‎”We are approaching each game one at a time. The match against Zimbabwe was merely a setback, not a catastrophe. Following that game, we participated in the Unity Cup to make a statement, and we emerged as champions,” he clarified.

‎The captain emphasized that the players are dedicated to applying the lessons learned from past matches to enhance their performance against Sudan.

‎Nigeria needs to secure a victory at the 15,000-capacity Amaan Stadium to keep their hopes alive after a narrow 1-0 loss to defending champions Senegal in their opening match last week. The Falcons of Jediane, who were held to a late draw by Congo in their own opener, also require a win to remain in the race.

‎”We are addressing every mistake we have made previously and ensuring that we execute things correctly,” Nduka stated.

‎Nduka also shared his thoughts on the privilege of leading the national team in such a significant continental tournament, calling it a personal achievement.

‎”As the captain of the team, leading the nation in a major tournament like this is an honor for me. It’s incredible to be here, among the finest players in the country, and to compete against top-tier opponents from nations like Senegal and Sudan who have been performing well,” he remarked.

‎The Super Eagles B, who were runners-up in the 2018 edition, will take on Sudan at 6pm local time today, fully aware that only a victory will set them back on course for qualification to the knockout stages of the competition.
