‘It Was My Lowest Moment’, Tiwa Savage Reflects on Leaked Sextape

Nigerian Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has revisited one of the most painful chapters of her life, revealing that her leaked intimate video surfaced while she was still mourning the death of her father.

In a candid interview with British media personality Zeze Mills, the Somebody’s Son hitmaker described the period as the lowest moment of her life.

“It was a space of like two months where my dad died and my sex tape was released,” she said.
“The only way I could have survived was not to think about it.”

The singer explained that she coped with the trauma by refusing to dwell on the scandal, choosing instead to focus on her career and personal growth.

The leaked video, which made headlines in October 2021, was reportedly released by someone attempting to blackmail her. In an earlier interview with Angie Martinez on Power 105.1, Tiwa Savage confirmed that the individual tried to extort money from her, but she refused to be intimidated.
