Award-winning Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has opened up about her evolving standards in romantic relationships, revealing that she’s no longer interested in dating men who are less financially buoyant than she is.

In a candid interview with British media personality Zeze Mills, the Koroba hitmaker admitted that she made mistakes in the past by prioritizing love over financial stability.

“I used to make mistake dating down saying I don’t care if you’re not making money, it’s just love. But now, I think I need someone that just has money. I think I’m at that point now,” she said.
“Love is really nice but you can judge me for wanting a wealthier person if you want.”

Tiwa Savage added that she’s spent years trying to make relationships work with men who didn’t meet her financially, and now she’s ready to flip the script.

“I want to try that [dating someone who’s wealthier]. I have tried the other way for so many years. Let me try what it’s like dating a wealthy man.”

The singer was previously married to her former manager Tunji Balogun, popularly known as Teebillz, in 2013, but the marriage ended in 2018 after failed attempts to reconcile. Their union produced a son, Jamil.

Her remarks have sparked lively debate online, with fans weighing in on whether financial compatibility should be a deal breaker in modern relationships.
