Widow in Tai LGA Receives Empowerment Support from Rivers NYSC Charity Group

Mrs. Lucy Alibara, a widow from Nonwa community in Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State, has been empowered by the Charity Community Development Service (CDS) group of Tai LGA.

Alibara, who was said to have been rejected and abandoned, was provided with goods valued at over ₦600,000, including rice, garri, beans, sachet oil, food condiments, onions, and other essential household food items.

At the shop’s unveiling, Corps Member and President of Charity CDS Tai LGA, Ayinuola Segun Peter (Code No RV/24C/4662), explained that the group was moved to assist Mrs. Alibara due to her “intentional and proactive charity work,” which she carried out despite harsh weather conditions and the absence of a proper shop or financial means to rent one.

He further revealed that upon learning about her circumstances, the CDS group discovered she is a widow who had been rejected and abandoned but had refused to give up on life. This resilience inspired their intervention.

Mrs. Adzin Odok, the Zonal Inspector for Tai zone, praised the Corps Members for their “thoughtfulness, goodwill, and generosity” towards Mrs. Alibara and encouraged them to continue positively impacting vulnerable individuals.
