In a move to boost professionalism and improve service delivery, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, organized a capacity-building lecture for officers and men of the Command.
The event was held at the Police Officers Mess, Old GRA, Port Harcourt, according to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-koko, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
The lecture, supported by members of the Police Management Team and other seasoned professionals, covered a range of critical topics designed to enhance operational efficiency and officer well-being.
Key sessions included Effective Management of Arms, Ammunition, Exhibits, and Financial Resources Presented by Mrs. Inyam Ozioma, Assistant Director, Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation.
The session focused on accountability and best practices in managing police resources and exhibits.

Hypertension and Stress Management led by ACP (Dr.) Ahunanya Nnaed, O/C Medical, Rivers State Police Command. Officers were educated on the importance of regular health checks and stress reduction for optimal performance.

Criminal Justice Administration and Legal Innovations by CSP Stephen Onwochei, Officer in Charge of Legal, was an insightful lecture on legal best practices, including the proper taking of confessional statements, the legal framework for case file compilation, and ensuring court admissibility, key components for successful litigation.
DCP Samuel Etaifo-Erale, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, provided detailed guidance on conducting orderly room trials, equipping officers with the procedural knowledge required for effective internal disciplinary processes.
The event also addressed recent policy developments, including the Inspector-General of Police’s pledge to remove the Nigeria Police Force from the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS)—a move that has generated significant interest among officers.
The lecture marks another milestone in the Command’s commitment to continuous professional development, ensuring that officers remain effective, accountable, and prepared to meet the evolving demands of modern policing.
