The INEC REC warned against double and underage registration, which are offenses punishable by law under the Electoral Act 2022. He emphasized the commission’s commitment to protecting the voting rights of every Nigerian and appealed to traditional rulers, religious leaders, political parties, youth and women groups, civil society organizations, and the media to support and promote the voter registration drive.

Mallam Ehimeakhe, who assumed office as INEC REC in Bayelsa State on June 17, stressed the importance of voter registration in citizens’ participation in the democratic process. He urged stakeholders to collaborate with the commission to ensure a smooth, inclusive, and credible exercise.
