Super Eagles B Open 2025 CHAN Senegal, Time and Where to Watch

Super Eagles B

On Tuesday, August 5, Nigeria will take part in another important attempt to win a continental title as the home-based senior men’s team, Super Eagles B, plays against the reigning Cup holders, Senegal, in the first match of Group D at the 8th African Nations Championship.

‎Nigeria has had a mix of good and bad results in this 16-year-old tournament, which only includes players who have active contracts in their domestic leagues across the continent. They won bronze in 2014 and came second in 2018.

‎In the first edition, held in Cote d’Ivoire in 2009 and won by the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Eagles lost a two-goal lead against their long-time rivals, Ghana, in Accra, eventually losing 2-3.

‎They also failed to score in the return match in Calabar, letting Ghana qualify.

‎In 2011, Nigeria didn’t make it to the finals in Sudan. However, in 2014, under the late Stephen Keshi, the Eagles won bronze in South Africa, coming back from a 3-0 halftime deficit against Morocco.

‎In 2016, Nigeria didn’t go past the group stage in Rwanda, but in 2018, they reached the Final, only to lose to the host nation, Morocco, on a cold night in Casablanca.

‎Super Eagles B then failed to qualify for the next two tournaments, which were in Cameroon in 2021 and Algeria two years ago.
