NOA, NIMC Strengthen Partnership to Redefine Nigerian Identity

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) are deepening their collaboration to redefine the concept of Nigerian identity. The partnership aims to go beyond physical identification and focus on shaping national values and patriotism.

The Director General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, emphasized the shared responsibilities of both agencies in shaping national identity. While NIMC provides physical and digital identity, NOA focuses on the emotional, psychological, and civic aspects of being Nigerian.

The NOA’s Nigeria Identity Project aims to define a true sense of belonging, purpose, and patriotism among Nigerians. The project seeks to build trust between citizens and the government by highlighting what the government is doing for its people.

The NIMC Director General, Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, highlighted the commission’s innovations, including the 11-digit National Identification Number (NIN), digital ID wallet, and expanded access to identification services. She emphasized the importance of ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind, especially in rural areas.

The visit between the two agencies signals a stronger alliance to build a more secure, inclusive, and value-driven identity system that speaks to both the physical and emotional aspects of Nigerian identity.
